Welcome to the 2014
November 4 General Election
For latest Hot Sheet
Why do so many of California’s major corporations, labor unions, professional trade associations, political action committees (PACs), broadcast and print media, universities and libraries, along with elected officials, legislative advocates, political consultants and pollsters subscribe to the California Target Book?
Established in 1993, the California Target Book gives non-partisan, unbiased information to all who want to be kept fully informed and up-to-date on congressional and state legislative election campaigns in California.
This online edition includes a district-by-district coverage of each of the eighty assembly, twenty even-numbered state senate and fifty three congressional districts up for election in 2014, along with district maps, vote histories, party registration, minority voter registration, as well as profiles on likely and potential candidates in the June 2014 Top Two Primary.
There are six open congressional seats up this year due to the incumbent House member not seeking reelection. There are 10 senate and 23 assembly districts that are open seats due to term limits or the current incumbent is giving up the seat to for a higher office.
In addition, our editors have tagged those members of Congress, state Senate and Assembly that may be TARGETS, meaning that they are likely to be seriously challenged for reelection in 2014.
Subscribers also have access to the HOT SHEET, which keeps subscribers informed on breaking political stories and the continuing activities of candidates, political parties and legislative leaders.
HARD COPY EDITION
Many subscribers, at additional cost, desire to also receive the printed hard copy edition of the Target Book, an abridged version of the online edition, which includes vote histories, voter registration data and candidate profiles.
Two separate hard copy editions are published this year. Now available is the 2014 General Election Edition, which profiles the candidates running for congress and the state legislature. The Post-General Election Edition will be published in December. The online addition is continuously updated.
