CD12 (D-McNerney)

The National Association of Realtors PAC spent $247,000 in an independent expenditure on behalf of Democratic Incumbent Congressman JERRY McNERNEY.  $200,000 was for ads, $42,000 for a political survey.

McNerney has received the endorsement of Stockton Mayor Ed Chavez, a Republican.

Democrat NICK LEIBHAM has announced that former Vice President Al Gore will be a special guest at two private “closed to the press” fundraisers in Rancho Santa Fe to be held Saturday, Sept. 30.

Former Democratic Asm. HANNAH-BETH-JACKSON has been endorsed by the CA Professional Firefighters.

Three additional local Republicans have signed on to the “Moderate Republicans for Jackson” committee.  They are Beverlee McGrath, a former member of the Ventura County Republican Central Committee, Beth Rogers, the GOP nominee for CD23 in 2002 and Judy Lazar, a former mayor of Thousand Oaks (see Hot Sheet dated 8/11)

Former Asm. TONY STRICKLAND has received the endorsements from "all five of Ventura's county-wide elected officials eligible to make an endorsement": DA Greg Totten, Sheriff Bob Brooks, Auditor-Controller Christine Cohen, Treasurer-Tax Collector Larry Matheny and Assessor Dean Goodwin.  Also endorsing Strickland are Ventura County Fire Chief Bob Roper and Ventura County Supervisor Peter Foy.
